Staff Infrastructure Engineer – Augmented Developer Experience
* Architect, optimize, and own asynchronous AI-powered workflows on Shopify pull requests * Lead design and rollout of AI-powered engineering capabilities from prototype to production * Drive reliability, latency, cost, and quality of AI systems * Run production A/B tests and iterate using precision, recall, and developer sentiment * Partner with CI/CD and source-control teams * Set technical direction across ambiguous systems work * Mentor engineers across levels * Participate in on-call rotation supporting production reliability
* Proven expertise building and operating asynchronous workflow systems in production at scale * Track record shipping software on customer-critical paths * Comfortable working with non-deterministic systems * Experience designing systems using ML predictions or LLM outputs * Strong software engineering skills in modern programming languages * Staff-level technical leadership experience * Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor * Direct exposure to LLM-based systems preferred * Background in search, recommendations, or ML-driven infrastructure preferred * Experience working alongside MLEs or applied scientists preferred
